March 13, 2010

Hi Mr. Beatty! I just wanted to let you know that I have always enjoyed your talent as an actor! I had no idea your talent as a singer was also just as great! I wanted to tell you that we have the same "home base" and your parents used to live down the street from me!! I hope you and your family are doing well

March 3, 2010

I needed to make another comment about your website, I'm so impressed by this beautiful site, very few famous actors take the time to have a website that is so personable and devoted to love and family. Also, you are a very talented singer much to my delight. I hope you still pursue your acting career, I've always enjoyed watching movies you were in.

Robin Rush

March 3, 2010

I've always enjoyed your acting but had no idea you could sing. I'm very impressed by your voice and choice of songs.

Dear Mr. Beatty:
I have, to no prevail, been able to find anywhere, the movie you were in, Attack on terror. My dad was good friends with cartha Deke deLoach, who headed up the FBI investigation of the 3 civil rights workers that were killed. I have an autographed book from Mr. deloach of the book. there were, if I remember, actual FBI photos of mr. deloach. and, the movie was well done.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Very Nice !
You sing from the heart, and it shows.
Best of luck and Thanks for all that you have contributed to us.

February 11, 2010

Some of your songs here are longtime favorites of mine! You've done a great job on them! I went to high school in Warrenton with your son, Doug (we took French together). Also, my grandmother lived in Berea, KY and my parents went to Berea College. I saw "Wilderness Road" at the outdoor theatre numerous times when I was young. I always enjoyed it tremendously! Did you like performing in it? Small world!

Hello Sir. I am an actor and orchestra conductor in New York and right now...Network is on. It got me to thinking about how much I loved you in Superman, etc....and I just wanted to share that. You never know what work will move someone or inspire someone...and you have inspired many. Thank you sir.

I was thinking back on my past and all of the movies and actors I've seen in film and you came to mind. I never knew you sang, especially not that you are a fellow Christian. God bless you. You are a part of my past and a great actor. The world needs more people like you. I enjoy your work.

Bill Walsh

February 3, 2010

What a wonderful voice. I never knew you sang, or had musical talent except for your guitar stumming in WISE BLOOD as Hoover Shoates. You are very talented. I've enjoyed your movies!

Mr Beatty-
As a fellow Louisville native, I want to say how much I appreciate you and your craft. Just yesterday, I watched the first Superman movie for the umpteenth time. What a marvel you are. Otis is the only one who can really stump Lex. This simplistic yet eliptical character is wonderful. As a "Smallville" television series fan, I hope they mention Otis or even better, call you for a cameo.
Thank you, again

January 13, 2010

September 21, 2009

Hi, Mr. Beatty. Thanks for all the years of work. I have a question that I hope you can answer - I think I have a photograph from when I was a small child (ca. 1968) with you. My parents actually have the photo. I had won a contest on a child's show and had my picture taken with you. I thought it was the Bozo the Clown show, but can't corroborate that via the internet. Do you remember working on a children's show in the late 60's?

Thanks in advance for your reply, if you have the time. Wishing you continued success,

Keith Carter Jr.

Our son, Brad Williams, just called after a full day of filming in Okla. City "The Killer Inside Me". Said he had lunch with you and what a nice guy you were. Told us about your singing career. We are listening to your music tonight. What a blessing you are vocally as well as just a good guy. We also enjoy the Gospel Quartet Convention in Louisville every year. Hope your stay in Okla. has been pleasant.

I heard your songs here and they are great! Your site is wonderful and it should include more on your acting career as well. You are the 1st ever Academy Award-nominated gospel singer ever, and I hope you get a Grammy nomination in the near future. You are one of the best actors out there, keep it up.

April 16, 2009

I happened to catch you on an episode of Law & Order tonight and was reminded, once again, of a wonderful memory my son has of you. We were vacationing in KY many years ago when you were there filming a coal mining story. My son, now a 34-year-old airman but then about 6, had gone with friends to see "ET" at the local theatre. Of course, when ET died, he began to cry and you came up, knelt beside him and put your arm around him. Needless to say, you have been on the top of our list ever since . . not only as a superb actor, but a warm and gracious human being. It is so good to still see you on the screen. . and now sharing your beautiful singing voice, as well!

Teri Hansen

April 15, 2009

Hey Darlin Ned, Remember me? I played your daughter (Magnolia) in SHOW BOAT...just saw your performance on Law and Order....beautiful work. Looks like you are happy and i adore your singing. bless you and peace. Teri Hansen

April 15, 2009

Here at sea - when we're not fighting pirates - we watch a lot of movies. I host a Popcorn Theatre on Friday nights and we show classics. You have a whole generation of new fans in their 20s! I Just showed "White Lightning", my favorite. Everyone knows who you are. I swear I know J.C. Connors! This is one of my favorite performances. (I'm 43.) It was great to see you in "The Shooter." In May, we are hosting NED BEATTY month on Popcorn Theatre. I look forward to seeing your latest project.

P.S. Any chance we could add an autographed photo to our wardroom or display of Stars?

Alex Creque

April 13, 2009

Mr. Beatty, you came into the furniture store that I work in today, and I just realized it was you. I'm such a dummy. Well, anyway, I didn't help you out, but I wish I could've. God bless you and your wife.

My daughter (age 10) are watching "The Toy" and with the wonderful world of computers. I look up actors as I watch. Obviously Ive seen other movies with you in. You are so funny. Just wanted to congratulate you on a great carreer. Looks like you have a great family. Kurt from Green Bay WI.

Harry Marion Killinger

March 11, 2009

I didn't realize you are from Kentucky. I was born in Corbin but grew up in Alabama. I was actually an actor for a number of years - my one claim to fame is as "Roland Kirk" in the Law and Order episode "Volunteers". Kirk was the homeless man who terrorizes a Greenwich village neighborhood and then sues them for beating him up!

I especially appreciate the picture of Fort Beatty! Good fer you, partner!

I live right on the ocean now in a wilderness area in Nova Scotia in the South Shore area with my wife and five labrador retrievers.

You are one fine actor, brother. Peace and love to you and your family.

Dave Tanner

February 28, 2009

You were AMAZING tonight on "Law And Order!!!" You captured every nuance of someone in the early stages of dementia, down to your detailed "in-the-moment" recall of old memories. The script was very good, but you absolutely made it come alive. Congratulations on yet another unforgettable role. All the best, Dave Tanner, Alzheimer's Association volunteer

February 9, 2009

I've just seen "Network" for the third time and wanted to tell you that your board room speech to Howard Beal is one of the most memorable by anyone, at any time. And on top of that, and your remarkable career, to learn that we'll see each other at His throne, well, it just keeps getting better!

Richard Bowers

January 29, 2009

I have always enjoyed your performances and have followed your career. I lived in Louisville 1964-1969 while in graduate school and working, but I became aware of you after Deliverance, as I had run the Chattooga River in college. I have always thought you would be an interesting person to spend an evening with talking.

Just stumbled upon the site and listened to the tunes. You've always had a great acting voice, and what a pleasant surprise to hear you also have a lovely warm singing voice also! I wish you the best with your music and hope that perhaps your celebrity will help expose more people to these great gospel songs.

Merry Christmas Ned!

November 19, 2008

Hello Ned,
I enjoyed the music.

Is it true you once appeared on stage at Clarksville Little Theatre?

Ramsay Stewart

November 8, 2008

Hi Ned,
Great tunes, very enjoyable.
I've been re-watching early Homicide recently as well and I have to say I'd forgotten brilliant this series and especially your performance was. You seem to create a 'stillness' at the centre which allows the other characters to breathe.
After watching The Wire recently I have to say I suspected that Homicide might pale in comparison. It really doesn't - if anything it's better than The Wire.

I was just watching an old episode of Roseanne and you were in it which led me to look you up and see if you were still around! That led me to your music and you have a beautiful voice. I was quite inspired by it. You should keep it up. If you are ever on the Outer Banks of North Carolina come and sing for us!!

Great website you have and photo's too. I"m a fan, and love your acting. I just recently saw the superman films, one of my favorite characters you played in the movies you been in was otis and 1941 when you yelled invasion. and trying to shoot at the japanese with the big gun. I was also an extra in the movie rudy back in the early nineties, and in some little scenes in the film. Me and my family know rudy ruetigger. During the making of rudy, they put me in a scene asking for tickets, and you walked by me and I asked you if you had tickets for the game something like that. Other than that I think your a great actor and enjoyed the films you've been in. Keep up the good work. Joe Roman.

Hi Ned,
It has been a long time. I was the construction coordinator on "Shadows in the Storm". I stumbled onto your site and wanted to say hello. I still have a photo of you playing gut bucket bass with me at Pierpoint and am happy that you decided to build Fort Beatty in Camp Nelson. It is a place near and dear to my heart.
See what I am doing at CHEERS!

June 14, 2008

Dear Mr. Beatty,

I just wanted to thank you for your kindness at the recent Superman Festival. My 5 year old daughter talked about you the entire way home. I am not certain that you will remember us, but during one of the final sessions she spent some time playing peek-a-boo with you while you both discussed schooling and her age. You are truly one of the kindest men I have ever met. Thank you again and God Bless.

Top of the day, Ned! I've heard it rumored for years that you are a Barbershopper. Any truth? From listening to some of your music you gotta be a bass. Nice bright sound, good voice.
If you ever get to Sarasota Florida please let me know. I belong to the "Chorus of the Keys" and sing lead. I'd love to ring a few chords with you.
Our chapter is about 100 plus strong during seaon. We meet on Tuesday nights at 7 PM then go to afterglow and sing tags and other songs till about midnight.
Oh! by the way you may know the name Don Clause? He is our director along with Don Gipps. Great fun! Hope to hear from you if you come our way. Stay well and "COME ON DOWN"

Best regards,

Well buddy ole buddy.
I never knew you could sing. What a voice. It reminds me of a cross between Tennessee Ernie Ford and Jim Reeves. Smooth and Rich.

Nice family oriented web site.

I am an actor/writer and I have always been a fan of your work. You remind me of my own father and I would hope that one day I may actually convince you to play him. Ironically I ran into Bruce D some months back and he mentioned that I reminded him of you. Crazy world. I hope we have an opportunity to connect at some point and until then keep singing, keep acting and know that there is a whole generation of performers that you have had a tremendous impact on.
Love Always, John

Mr. Beatty,
I think you're a wonderful actor. I always am happy when I see you credited in a movie, or a television program, because I know there is going to a standard of fine acting quality in what I am about to see. I just wanted to thank you for entertaining me as a child when you took part in Shelley Duvall's FAERIE TALE THEATRE. Nobody could play a wealth obsessed monarch like you, and I am glad you were part of the vast talent that went into that anthology. NASHVILLE was great too, and of course SUPERMAN and the LAST DAYS OF POMPEI! Long may entertain us!Regards,
